Sheila has played a key part in the development of the Centre for Enabling Leadership in the UK and New Zealand since its inception. She took over the leadership of the three businesses as CEO of Centell Limited the holding company from the beginning of 2001. This enables Sheila to employ her considerable consulting and organising skills to move the businesses on to a new level of operation, particularly with its on-line questionnaire and workshop products.

Demonstrating a passion for the empowerment of individuals, Sheila has a high level of skill in the way she enables them to meet their needs and to be accountable for the way their behaviour impacts on others. Many of her assignments involve dealing with real and perceived shifts in power within an organisation or relationships that are necessary to achieve effective business results. This is accomplished in a manner that produces an environment that is healthier for all concerned. She is known as a facilitator who will enable those involved to confront the issues and survive the outcome with increased energy.

Sheila formed Sheila Hampshire Associates in 1981 after having invested 10 years working on people development activities in the private sector in industry. She initially specialised in team working, coaching and diversity activities and has extended to include significant organisational, team and personal development.

Her particular strengths include:

  • enabling alignment of individual actions with the required business (and/or personal) direction and strategy
  • identifying critical issues that have an operational impact and putting them within the context of the bigger picture
  • working with teams to help them develop openness and transparency in their team and organisational cultures
  • confronting individuals/teams to enable effective working to result in improved performance
  • facilitating learning that is designed to effect changes in behaviour
  • carrying out surveys to provide insights into chosen areas of business that would benefit from an in-depth investigation

Sheila is actively involved in working internationally in both the private and public sectors. She is a CFIPD and has co-authored the book 'How to Realise Your Potential' and edited HRD International Journal.
